  • Metallurgical characterization of metallic alloys welds, made by conventional and advanced welding methods
  • Study of welding residual stresses and distortions in metallic constructions.
  • Failure analysis of metallic components used in marine and engineering applications.
  • Additive manufacturing of metallic components using Wire Arc and Plasma Beam Technic
  • Study of transient phenomena in welds and thermal treatments (Thermocouples, thermography, strain gages, LVDTs).
  • Surface, thermal treatments of metallic materials used in marine applications.
  • Thermo-mechanical modelling of welding procedures using FEA.
  • Structural design of marine structures.
  • Erection and evaluation of marine structures, advanced methods of characterization and quality control of welded structures, quality assurance systems in shipbuilding
